Education and Research

Pūlama Lāna‘i will work with the community to create “the best school in Hawaii” at the primary level.  That’s an ambitious statement.  It will take a lot of hard work to get there.  But imagine what such a school would mean to generations of children growing up on Lāna‘i and to their families.

The presence of the University of Hawaii Maui College campus on Lāna‘i would be enhanced to provide students access to options for post-secondary education without leaving the island.

The vision also calls for attracting a university to invest in Lāna‘i by creating a research center that would draw students from around the world to study sustainability here in a place where it will be practiced in a multitude of ways.
